FAQs: Kopi Gourmet Coffee Gift Experience

A Kopi gift subscription is that perfect unusual luxury treat for someone special, whether it's a birthday or a big event. As such, we take extra special care to make sure they get an amazing experience from us each and every time.

So what exactly will they get in their Kopi box each month?

Each month they will get a slimline box that contains a 250g bag (20-25 cups) of gourmet coffee chosen by our experts that month from around the world, a gorgeous booklet explaining the provenance of the coffee and tasting notes, and sometimes a special extra treat that we put in from time to time. As a gift recipient, their very first box will also include a small message explaining what Kopi is, who bought it for them, and what they can expect each month.

When will the recipient get their gift?

Our Kopi boxes arrive around the 14th of the month and our cut-off date is the 10th so any orders after that date will arrive on the 14th of the following month. You can see the exact date before you make your purchase in the banner above the subscription plan choices.

If I order now, I'm not sure the box is going to arrive to the recipient in time. Is there something I can give them to show I've purchased it while they wait?

You can download and customise your own gift certificate (available here as a PDF) to give to the recipient on the day. If you need any help or want us to do it for you, then you can email us ([email protected]) after your purchase with the personalised message you'd like to include. This way you can show them what they're getting and when to expect it.

Why do you ask for the gift recipient's email address? You won't send them any billing information or order confirmations will you?

No way - as the gift giver you will get all payment receipts and we only ask for the recipient’s email address so we can notify them when the coffee is dispatched each month. We also let them know that they can "claim their gift" and have their own personal account if they'd like to get more involved, half-way through the subscription. This is, however, optional. If you have a custom request along these lines, please do let us know.

How will I know if they've received their Kopi box safely?

We have a very high successful delivery rate as long the address you provide us is full and accurate. If your recipient has not received their box by the 18th, then please tell them to contact us immediately via [email protected]

Do you automatically renew the subscription at the end of the term?

No we don’t - in fact the gift shouldn't really be called a subscription as it's more a one off purchase. Towards the end of the term we will email both yourself and the gift recipient to ask if either of you would like to continue and convert into If not we simply close the account.

Should I order Whole Beans or Pre-Ground for them?

If you know the recipient has their own bean grinder then Whole Beans is a perfect choice, and especially so if they like to make their own espresso. If you're not sure, Pre-Ground is always the safer option to start with and they can change future orders to Whole Beans themselves if that's what they prefer. It's all customisable once the order is made.

What type of grind do you use for your Pre-Ground option?

We use something called "omnigrind" which is a perfect medium-coarse grind for the most popular brewing equipment such as cafetieres and filter coffee machines. If you're buying Kopi to make an espresso, then we recommend buying the Whole Beans and grinding them yourselves at home to an even finer consistency.
